Roofing Grants in 2026

According to the official websites consulted on October 3, 2026, Rénoclimat, from the Government of Quebec, offers up to $1,500 and LogisVert, from Hydro-Québec, $1,500 to insulate the roof, but no grant pays for the roof of any house. These grants and financial help add to the budget you set from the roof replacement cost. The third program, RénoPlex, from the City of Montreal, covers certain buildings of 2 to 5 units.

01

What exists in 2026

Each program has its own target, and each one has its own page below this one.

  • RénoPlex, from the City of Montreal. The program targets buildings of 1 to 5 units. An ordinary roof is eligible only for buildings of 2 to 5 units with a low property value. Other buildings are eligible only for a green roof.
  • Rénoclimat, from the Government of Quebec. The help ranges from $50 to $1,500 to improve roof insulation, depending on the area insulated and the gain achieved.
  • LogisVert, from Hydro-Québec. The grant is $1,500 for the "roof insulation and caulking" measure.

These amounts are added to the budget you set from the roof replacement cost. They do not replace it.

02

The rule to remember is to apply before you start

For RénoPlex, the City writes that you must wait for confirmation that the application is accepted before starting the work, or you lose the grant. The City expects a delay of 3 to 4 months.

For Rénoclimat, an energy evaluation must be done before the work, then another one after.

A leaking roof cannot always wait. If you are aiming for a grant, apply as soon as you start asking for quotes.

03

What these programs do not cover

Rénoclimat and LogisVert pay to insulate, not to cover. Replacing shingles or a membrane without improving the insulation gives you nothing under these two programs.

RénoPlex covers the roof, but with conditions. The City states, for example, that a flat roof must be redone with a white membrane to be eligible.

04

And taxes

Redoing the roof of the home you live in and redoing the roof of a building that brings in rent are not treated the same way. The topic has its own page, below this one.

05

Before you sign

  • Check on each program's website that your building and your work are eligible.
  • Ask us whether our quote meets the requirements of the program you are aiming for.
  • Keep the quotes, the invoices and the photos.
  • Reread what is declared in your name if someone fills out the application for you.

Programs change often. The amounts on this page were read on the official websites on October 3, 2026. Confirm them before you count on them.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the roofing grant in 2026?

No general grant exists for an ordinary roof. In Montreal, RénoPlex can cover the roof of a building of 2 to 5 units with a low property value. Rénoclimat offers up to $1,500 for roof insulation, and LogisVert lists $1,500 for roof insulation and caulking.

Can I get help to replace my roof?
